Girl Scouts blazing new trails with snack bar sales | Community Spirit
Be on the lookout for the latest in fundraising from the Girl Scouts – they are not selling just cookies anymore!
Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona will be participating in the pilot program to start selling the latest in snack bars. With help from the same company, Little Brownie Bakers, who produce the famous Girl Scout cookies, Girl Scouts will soon be selling – Tagalongs and Double Dutch Snack bars. These latest creations are ‘packed with wholesome ingredients like hearty rolled oats, crispy cereal flakes and chewy granola’ and perfect for on the go snacking, according to a recent Girl Scout news release.
Orders for these yummy new treats started today and will run until October 7, with delivery at the end of October. There will however be no direct sales or booth sales.
This new approach to selling and this pilot program will enable the Girl Scouts to participate in real market research, allowing them to gauge customer feedback and involve the girls as sellers as much as possible. There is even a website designed by Little Brownie Bakers to provide customers a place to leave feedback and comments.
This new sale will also allow the Girl Scouts to make extra funds for troop activities and allow them to earn patches, all by using the five skills they learn during cookie sales each year – goal setting, decision management, money management, people skills and business ethics.
“The sale reinforces skills learned through the Cookie Program and allows girls to tryout their hand at marketing a different product,” comment Melissa Varga, Product Specialist in a recent news release. “We’re excited to see our saleswomen in action.”
If you are interested in buying some of these scrumptious sounding snack bars please contact the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona hotline at (520)319-3163, and be connected to the closest salesgirl to you. The cost is $4 per box, with five bars per box.
Samples will also be on hand tomorrow at the Thin Mint 5k Sprint at Brandi Fenton Park.
