TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now)- Tucson Police have identified the man killed in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday on Tucson's south side near Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
According to a news release from TPD, Robert Lopez, 33, was shot multiple times by two police officers after he failed to comply with commands to drop his weapon and instead raised it toward the officers.
Police found Lopez crouching in a doghouse in the backyard of a home in the 5300 block of East Ferry Drive, near Craycroft and 29th. A woman who lives in the home had called police to report suspicious activity.
The officers involved in the shooting are David Ortiz, an 8-year TPD veteran, and Anthony Flores, a 12-year TPD veteran.
Separate investigations of the shooting are being conducted by Homicide detectives and personnel from the Office of Internal Affairs.
