TUSD launches "Get On The Bus!" campaign | News
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now)- The Tucson Unified School District has launched the Get On The Bus! campaign to encourage parents to register their child by May 15 to receive transportation on the first day of school.
The district is committed to routing all eligible students requesting transportation one week prior to the start of school. The new school year starts Aug. 1.
TUSD invites parents to visit TUSD1.org/GetOnTheBus to learn about transportation opportunities, eligibility requirements, registration procedures, and to see FAQs, a newcomers guide, and more.
Families with continuing students do not need to re-register. Registration is required for students who are new to the district or are changing schools.
When a child is registered by the May 15 deadline, the district will mail the child's bus stop information to parents through the U.S. Postal Service one week before the start of school.
If a child is registered after May 15, transportation may not be available on the first day of school because routes may have already been finalized. The district will provide a transportation route as soon as possible, and will provide notification of the child's bus stop assignment when that information is available.
TUSD dramatically improved the transportation system at the start of this school year through a task force that was focused on coordinating data to enhance service. The district also installed a new phone system that significantly improved the ability to handle a high volume of calls at the start of school.
TUSD's call-in Customer Care Center is operating to assist parents, answer questions, and address concerns. The care center is open for phone calls Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
